Wei-Yu Chen, Ph.D. | Scientist

Dr. Wei-Yu Chen serves as a Scientist at Pythia Biotech, where he plays a pivotal role in expanding the company's highly predictive preclinical platforms. Leveraging his deep expertise in immunology and pharmaceutical R&D, Dr. Chen leads the development and clinical validation of Pythia’s newest organ-on-chip models, driving the next wave of human-relevant drug discovery.

Dr. Chen earned his Ph.D. in Basic Medical Sciences from China Medical University and his M.S. in Immunology from Chung Shan Medical University. During his doctoral training, he received multiple graduate research awards and published 16 SCI-indexed journal articles, including two first-author publications in Q1-ranked journals.

Prior to joining Pythia Biotechnology, Dr. Chen served as Head of the Animal Research and High-Throughput Screening (HTS) Team at CMC Magnetics Corporation. He also acted as a Sponsor Monitor for the company’s contract research organization (CRO) programs, overseeing preclinical studies, quality management, and cross-functional project coordination. During his tenure, he established and optimized multiple research platforms and workflows, significantly improving R&D efficiency and data quality. He contributed to drug development programs that successfully obtained U.S. FDA approval to enter Phase II clinical trials. In addition, he led the management and optimization of animal research facilities, strengthening animal welfare and quality management systems, which resulted in improved IACUC evaluation outcomes and operational performance.

He later joined Tripartite Therapeutics Inc. (TTI) as a Scientist, where he continued to focus on drug discovery and development, efficacy and safety evaluation, and translational preclinical research. Through these roles, he accumulated extensive experience in industrial R&D, project management, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

With a strong academic foundation and broad industry experience, Dr. Chen continues to drive the development and validation of Pythia’s organ-on-a-chip platforms, with the goal of establishing more clinically predictive cancer research models that accelerate translational research and oncology drug development.
